The is the period of Exile Jerusalem is captive for 70 years in Babylon. During this time Jeremiah from Jerusalem and Ezekiel from Babylon are saying don’t rebel, because if you rebel again, God will destroy Jerusalem. But the false prophets convinced Jehoiakim king of Judah to not listen and rebel against Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar has a belly full of this whole situation and lays a third siege against Jerusalem, takes them all captive and destroys the city.
Daniel gets deported in the first siege, Ezekiel gets deported in the second siege.

Chronology
• 612 B.C.: Nineveh falls they ruled the world in the Assyrian Empire until it falls to an alliance of Babylon and Media.
• 609 B.C.: Pharaoh Necho of Egypt leads an army against the remnants of Assyria.
– Josiah fights Pharaoh Necho of Ethiopia and gets killed (2 Chronicles 35:20-24).
• 606 B.C.: Battle of Carchemesh.
• Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon defeats Pharaoh Necho of Ethiopia. This marks the beginning of the Babylonian Empire.
• On his way home Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Jerusalem as a trophy
• During the siege of Jerusalem Nebuchadnezzar found out that his father died and he is now king of Babylon
• He takes Daniel and his three friends among others as hostages to be educated at court in Babylon to serve at the court
– W bank of Euphrates (Jeremiah 46:1-6).

Daniel 1: Dare to be a Daniel
• Daniel is the most authenticated book in the Bible, there is more archaeological and documentary evidence of Daniel than any other book of the Bible.
• Daniel has been authenticated by none other than Jesus Christ himself
• Daniel and his three friends were deported as teenagers in the first (of 3) sieges by Nebuchadnezzar
• Committed themselves to remain faithful despite their enforced pagan environment. (Our children are also in an enforced pagan environment...)
Bowing before an image expressly prohibited in the Torah: Exodus 20:4,5;
Leviticus 26:1; Deuteronomy 16:22.
• Shadrach, “Illumined by the Sun God”
– Hananiah, “Beloved of the Lord”
• Meshach, “Who is like unto the Moon God”
– Mishael, “Who is God”
• Abed-nego, Servant of Nego (“Shining Fire”)
– Azariah, “The Lord is my help”

CBS Special: Five-sided clay prism found in Babylon, now on display at the Istanbul Museum: lists grouped by titles: Ha-nu-nu, Chief of the Royal Merchants, a variation of Hananiah, or Shadrach; Mushalemarduk: (less marduk) = Meshach. Ardi-nabu, Secretary to the Crown Prince; an alternative form of Abed-Nego.
Daniel 2: Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
• Nebuchadnezzar defeated Pharaoh Necho at Battle of Carchemesh.
• He accedes to the throne of Babylon upon the death of his father  Nabopolassar.
• Inherits the staff of advisors of his father.
• He uses a disturbing dream as a test…
• Nebuchadnezzar worships
Daniel 2:46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. 47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

The Times of the Gentiles
• Daniel 2 through Daniel 7: Aramaic, not Hebrew.
• Daniel’s prophecies are a rare glimpse of Gentile history, in advance!
• The “Times of the Gentiles” began with Nebuchadnezzar and will end when the Coming World Leader who is displaced by the Return of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, The Root of David…
• Daniel 2 through Daniel 7 is written in Aramaic, not Hebrew.
• Because the focus of the book is on the Gentile world and the language of the text changes.
• The book of Daniel is in Hebrew from chapter 1 up to chapter 2, and after chapter 7 it is again written in Hebrew.
• Babylon rose to rule in 606 B.C. and in
• 539 B.C. Persia conquers Babylon and in
• 332 B.C. Alexander the Great conquers the Persians
• 68 B.C. Rome conquers the Greeks
• Rome Phase One: Iron
• Rome Phase Two: Iron + Clay
• Who conquered the Romans?

No one did, Rome broke into pieces and each one of those pieces has had their day in the sun. The Dutch, Germans, French, Spain, English with Mistress of the Seas, etc. Theses elements are going to recoaless again into a final version of the original empire, and that will be the last empire on the planet earth. Because after that, God intervenes and sets up His own Kingdom.

Daniel 3: Bow or Burn!
• Ego trip: All gold image, 60 x 6 cubits.
• Follow the music…bow down and worship the image
• Daniel’s 3 friends refuse!
• Furnace x 7! (Guards destroyed.)
• Only their bindings burned…
– A fourth as a visitor!?
• Typological conjectures…The Image is from the book of Revelation 13:1-18 who will be the final world leader and he’s going to have an image that he is going to force people to worship. Those who will not worship the image will be put to death.
• Rome Phase One The 60 cubits height and the 6 cubits width is suggestive of the number of the Beast 666.
Revelation 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
• Fire is often used in scripture as an idiom of judgement.
– Where was Daniel? A type of raptured saint?
Why Wasn’t Daniel in the Furnace?
• Daniel yielded to the king’s challenge? [Not likely.]
• Daniel was exempted from accusation by his enemies? [Not likely.]
• Daniel had been removed from the situation (on an errand for the king?)
[Daniel’s absence may have been viewed as his rival’s opportunity… Absent on affair of state?
Istanbul prism: lists 3; but no mention of Daniel!...the Church is not mentioned after Rev 4:1...]

Daniel 4: Nebuchadnezzar’s Testimony
• Nebuchadnezzar’s 2nd Dream (Great Tree, hewn down for 7 years.)
• Daniel interprets…
• 1 Year later, the king is boasting of his accomplishments, pride
• Nebuchadnezzar stricken with mental derangement for 7 years (Daniel was his personal nurse)
• Nebuchadnezzar recovers and publishes the entire testimony throughout the world.
@30:01
Daniel 5: The Fall of Babylon
• Belshazzar (Nebuchadnezzar’s grandson) throws a party for 1,000 nobles.
• The Persian army is on their near horizon.
• The fingers of a hand are seen writing on the wall of the banquet hall
• Daniel is called to interpret.
• Unknown to them, that night the Persian Army was able to slip through and conquer Babylon without a battle…

Are there secret messages in the Bible?
Proverbs 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.
The Bible is full of surprises tucked away underneath the text. There is a form of Hebrew encryption called cryptography, where you take the Hebrew alphabet (there are 22letters).
• Take the first eleven letters and place them on top and then put the second eleven letters and place them beneath the first eleven letters.
• And then transpose, if you want an Alef you use a Lamed and so forth. And that’s a simple form of transposition. It’s named after the first few letters
• Alef you use a Lamed instead of a Bet you have a Mem so it’s equivalent to A-l-b-m,
• Albam is the label given to this form of encryption. If you take the second half of the alphabet and put them in backwards, you get a different set of transpositions, you have an Alef and a Tav and a Bet and a Shin and so it’s called Atbash.
• According to the Talmud, the belief among the Hebrew scholars is that the encryption that was used on “The Handwriting on the Wall” was a form of atbash, which means the handwriting on the wall (assuming it was atbash) would have said something like this in Aramaic letters.

Babylon
Origin: Gen 10:8-10,
• built by Nimrod, the first world dictator.
--Herodotus
• Reported that it was 15 miles square; with 350 ft. walls, 87 ft. wide (6 chariots abreast!?)
• Babylon’s Hanging Gardens of Semiramis = one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
(• Saddam Hussein offered prizes for anyone who can figure out how they were irrigated...)
• There was also a second wall, with a moat in between. 250 watchtowers, 100 ft above the wall;
• Tower of Bel (Bab-El) 600 ft!? The banquet hall: 56 x 173 ft.
• The magnificence of Babylon led to Nebuchadnezzar’s downfall.
[And it has a prophetic destiny at the end of the age. See Chapter 5.]
The Handwriting on the Wall

(Assuming atbash encryption, see below...)

Mene: Numbered, Reckoned. “God hath numbered thy kingdom
and finished it.” Your number is up.
Tekel: Weighed. “Thou art weighed in the balances, and art
found wanting.”
Peres: Broken, Divided. “Thy kingdom is divided, and given to
the Medes and the Persians.”
(By implying a different vowel, “paras” rather than “peres.” It also
becomes a play on words: paras was the word for Persia.)

Daniel 6: The Revolt of the Magi
• Daniel is 83 years old, and prominent in the Persian Empire.
• He was appointed Rab-mag, Chief of the Magi, a hereditary sect of
Median Priest-magistrates.
• Jealous rivals entrapped him into the Lion’s Den episode.
• Miraculously spared, Daniel founded a secret sect of the Magi to preserve a prophecy that will lead them to a manger in Bethlehem…

Chapter 9 The Seventy Weeks
Chapter 10 The Dark Princes
Chapter 11 The Gentile Successions
Chapter 12 The Consummation of All Things

Daniel 7: The Four Beasts
The “Times of the Gentiles”
• In Daniel 2 we see this vision in the lens of man, as a statue
• Here God is showing us how he sees these Empires, as beasts
The Biblical view of history is always through the “lens” of Israel, except:
– Daniel 2 through 7 (in Aramaic). All of Gentile History in overview.
– Only four empires involved (The fourth in two distinct phases…)

The Roman Empire, Phase I
68 B.C. Rome emerges
44 B.C. Julius Caesar assassinated
31 B.C. Battle of Actium
64 A.D. Nero begins his persecutions
284 A.D. Diocletian divides it into 2 (legs?)
312 A.D. Constantine moves to Byzantium calls it Constantinople the “New Rome”
476 A.D. Empire breaks into pieces...each remaining segment has had its era . . .

Daniel 8: The Ram and the Goat
This vision occurs two years after vision of Daniel 7 and 12 years before the Fall of Babylon chapter 5.
• Vision of a Ram and a Goat
– The Ram is defeated by the Goat (Alexander the Great) from the West.
– The “notable horn” of the Goat divides into four.
– A “Little Horn” has a key role at the end…
• Daniel interprets
– A Leader from the West (Alexander the Great) will subdue the Medo-Persian Empire…
The Goat (Alexander the Great) had 35,000 troops
• One-horned goat was a symbol for the ancient Macedonians .
• Zodiac:—Aries, the Ram symbol of Persia:
--Greece—Capricorn, the goat (L. caper, goat; cornu, horn).
• May 334 B.C.: Alexander crossed the Hellespont with 35,000 troops,
first met and defeated the Persians at the Granicus River, who had 100,000's of thousands of troops.
• Nov 333 B.C.: 1½ years later, the Battle at Issus near the NE tip of Mediterranean Sea.
• Oct 331 B.C.: Finally broken at Gaugamela (Arbella) near Nineveh, established Greek Empire the dominant force.
• Alexander conquers all the way to India
Alexander’s Four Generals
When Alexander dies his four generals divides up the kingdom
• Cassander - Macedonia & Greece
• Lysimacus - Thrace, Bithynia, most of Asia Minor
• Ptolemy - Egypt, Cyrene, Arabia Petraea
• Seleucus - Syria, Babylon and lands to the East all the way to India
(Antiochus - A small part of Asia Minor Epiphanes appears as the “Little Horn”)

Daniel 9: The Interrupted Prayer
The 70 Weeks
This is quite possibly the most amazing passage in the entire Bible!
When four disciples came to Jesus for a confidential briefing on His

• Second Coming, Jesus pointed them to this passage as the key to end time
prophecy! (Matthew 24:15-16). He authenticates Daniel as a prophet, and the author of this book!
Matthew 24:15-16 When ye therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains . . .
• Daniels Prayer 1-19

• Gabriel’s Visit 20-23
Two “Super Angel’s ”
Michael a Military Commander on behalf of Israel
Gabriel the Messenger

• The “70 Weeks” of Daniel 24-27
The Scope 9:24
The 69 Weeks 9:25 encompasses 69 of the total weeks
(The Interval) 9:26 talks about things after verse 25, but before verse 27
The 70th Week 9:27 the last final missing week
Therefore there is a gap, an interval

The Scope
Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to
finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for
iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up the vision and
prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy Place.

To do 6 things:
to finish the transgression,
to make an end of sins,
to make reconciliation for iniquity,
to bring in everlasting righteousness
to seal up the vision and prophecy, and
to anoint the most Holy Place
• This has not happened yet! It is not complete yet!

The 69 Weeks
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the King shall be
seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again,
and the wall, even in troublous times.
• From
• Unto
Jerusalem shall be rebuilt

• shabu’im = sevens, “week.” (Gen 29:26-28; Lev 25, 26)
• hatak, determined, reckoned.
1) The focus of the passage is on the Jews, not the Church or the Gentile world.
2) The six major items listed have yet to be completed...unfulfilled in
over 2000 years: v.26 will detail an intervening Interval between the
69th & 70th Weeks. A key to understanding this passage is to realize that the 70 “Weeks” are not all contiguous.
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the King shall be
seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again,
and the wall, even in troublous times.

Four Decrees to “Rebuild Jerusalem”?
1) Cyrus, 537 B.C.? Ezra 1:2-4
2) Darius? Ezra 6:1-5, 8, 12
3) Artaxerxes, 458 B.C.? Ezra 7:11-26
4) Artaxerxes, 445 B.C. Neh 2:5-8, 17, 18
(1) (2) and (3) were to build the Temple.

Artaxerxes,.....
• Only the last one (4) was to rebuild the city, the walls, etc.
rehob, “street”
haruts, moat, fortification.

Why “7 + 62”?
• Time to build the city? Not the Temple
• Time to close the Old Testament canon?
• Time between Testaments?

69 x 7 x 360 = 173,880

445 B.C. - 32 A.D.:           173,740
March 14 - April 6:                   24
Leap Years:                             116
                                         173,880 days equal 483 years

• Gabriel predicted 5 centuries earlier to the exact day! Staggering proof of just who Jesus Christ is! He is the Messiah of Israel!
The Triumphal Entry
Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem:
behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation; lowly,
and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Luke 19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in
heaven, and glory in the highest.

All four Gospels, Matthew 21:1-9; Mark 11:1-10; Luke 19:29-39; John 12:12-16. Nisan
10: “take to everyone a lamb.” Jesus deliberately arranges to fulfill Zechariah 9:9. This is the only day He allows them to proclaim Him King (Luke19:38).

Why? What for? The Pharisees assure our noticing the significance!
Hallel Psalm:
Psalm 118:26
Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
The day the Messiah presents Himself

Luke 19:39
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, “Master, rebuke thy disciples.”
Luke 19:40 And He answered and said unto them, “I tell you that, if these should hold
their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Jesus held them accountable to recognize this very day. (Luke 19:41-44).
This was the 10th of Nisan, prior to the Passover on the 14th of Nisan, 32 A.D.

Chronology of His Ministry
• Christ ministry began in the fall of 28 A.D.
• Tiberius appointed: 14 A.D.
• Augustus died August 19, 14 A.D.
• With in the 15th year of Tiberius        Luke 3:1
• 4th Passover: April 6, 32 A.D. was the “Crucifixion” Sir Robert Anderson 1894
• Jesus was not crucified on a Friday
173,880 days equal 483 years as predicted by Gabriel

Judgment Declared
Luke 19:41, 42 And when He was come near, He beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying,
If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which
belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

Jews blinded
• Jesus expected them to know this day, and because they didn’t know it, they are now blinded.
• Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Luke 19:43, 44 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench
about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another, because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
The Fall of Jerusalem
• 38 years later the Romans sacked Jerusalem slaughtered over 1 million men, women, and children another 500,000 died by pestilence that followed in 70 A.D.
Why?:
because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation
The Interval
Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

After the 69th, before the 70th:
• Karat, execution; death penalty (karat = executed)
• Messiah will be executed for a capital crime; Isaiah 53; Psalms 22; Leviticus 7:20; Ps 37:9; Prov 2:22.
• “Not for Himself”: nothingness: rejection, substitution. An interval, or gap, clearly required by v. 26: events described are after the 69th and prior to the 70th week.
• The people of “the prince that shall come” = historically, the Romans.
• Thus, the Prince (anti-Christ) to come will be of the Roman Empire (but NOT necessarily from Europe, he could be an Assyrian!)
Sanctuary destroyed, etc. 38 years are included with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Over 1970 years have transpired so far.
“Flood”: diaspora. Titus Vespasian: 38 years later (not 3½!).
The Interval
• Interval implied 24 verses throughout the Bible:
Isaiah 61:1,2 (re: Luke 4:18-20); Revelation 12:5,6. Also: Isaiah 54:7;
Hosea 3:4,5; Amos 9:10,11; (Acts 15:13-18); Micah 5:2,3; Zechariah 9:9,10;
Luke 1:31,32; 21:24

• Interval defined: Luke 19:42—until Romans 11:25.
• This interval is the period of the Church, an era kept secret in OT: Matthew:13:34,35; Ephesians 3:5,9;
• Born at Pentecost: Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Acts 1:5, 11:15-16.
• [Interval implied in 24 references] “Israel” is never used of the Church (73X).
•  [Galatians 6:16 is misunderstood, by ignoring the kai in the Greek which clearly distinguishes the two groups.] It seems that the
• The Lord deals with Israel and the Church mutually exclusively. [Example: Chess Clock.]
• Prerequisites:
- Atonement: Matthew 16:18, 21
- Resurrection: Ephesians 1:20-23
- Ascension: Ephesians 4:7-11
(Spiritual gifts only after ascension)

The 70th Week
“the prince that shall come”
• “The Anti-Christ

Daniel 9:27 And he (“the prince that shall come”) shall enforce the covenant with [the]
many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice
and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he
shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined
shall be poured upon the desolate.
2 Thessalonians 2:2-4 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed,...
The Covenant enforced with “The Many” - “The many” is an idiom for Israel.

This is the...
• “Covenant with Hell,” Isaiah 28:15; Zechariah 11:15-17 etc.
“Midst of the week” - The most documented period of time in the Bible.
Time, times, the dividing of time (Daniel 7:25; 4:16, 23, 25).

“Time, Times, and ½ Time” (360 day calender)
• “Times” = dual, later lost in Aramaic : 1 + 2 + ½ = 3 ½ (Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12:7; Revelation 12:14); some places it is called 3½ years, 42 months, 1260 days, and ½ “week”
Half Week is called:
• 3½ years (Daniel 9:27; 12:7);
• 42 months (Revelation 11:2; 13:5);
• 1260 days (Revelation 11:3; Daniel 12:6);
• ½ “week” (Daniel 9:27).
This is the most documented time in the Old Testament and the New Testament

Every Detail by Design?
John 10:22…and it was at Jerusalem the Feast of the Dedication, and it was winter.

Which “Feast of Dedication?”
• Solomon’s Temple? In the Fall Autumn 1 Kings 8:2
• Zerubbabel’s Temple? In the Spring Ezra 6:15,16
• The Rededication in the Winter 25th of Kislev

The Great Tribulation
Matthew 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should
be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

This “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” climaxes in the “Day of the Lord”: Isaiah 61:2; Zecha-riah 12, 14; Rev 19:19; et al.
(Note that this is 3 ½ years, not 7, as is so often assumed.) Revelation 6 through 19 is essentially an elaboration of the events during the “70th Week” of Daniel 9.

The “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7)
Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for
the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never
was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy
people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

The 60 weeks are behind us!!!

Daniel 10: A Glimpse of the Dark Side
• Daniel fasts for 21 days
• An Angel is sent, but is withstood for 21 days by
• “The Prince of the Kingdom of Persia” until assisted by “Michael, the Chief Prince.”
• After giving Daniel the subsequent vision (Chapters 11 & 12) he will have to deal with “The Prince of the Power of Greece.”
It is Satan’s world!

                                                                                     (175-163 B.C.)

The continued attempts by Bible critics to “late date” this passage is a testimony to its
accuracy. In verses 1-35, approximately 135 prophetic statements have been counted.

Ptolemy I Soter (323-285 B.C.) was one of Alexander’s wisest and most capable generals and grew very powerful, but now Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285-245 B.C.) grew even more powerful. It was under Ptolemy II’s rule that the great library was established at Alexandria and the translation of the Old Testament into Greek (the “Septuagint” translation) was commissioned. The famed mathematician Euclid taught geometry in Ptolemy’s court.
Ptolemy I captured Jerusalem in 321 B.C. on the Sabbath day without resistance.
[Josephus, Antiquities XII. i. 1.] However, in 316 B.C. Israel was lost to Ptolemy’s rival, Antigonus. After the Battle of Gaza in 312 B.C., Ptolemy reclaimed it. Seleucus I Nicator (312-281 B.C.), who cooperated with Ptolemy, made himself the master of Babylon and established the Seleucid Empire, ruling from Antioch.
Daniel Chapters 11 and 12 provide a detailed profile of the subsequent kings of the Seleucid and Ptolemaic Dynasties confronting one another.
• Chapters 5-12 is so detailed that the experts have tried to say that Daniel must have been late dated.
--These chapters also include a detailed glimpse of the final World Ruler that will prevail until the end times. (More on this will be dealt with later in this series.)

Questions The Book of Daniel
1) How do we know that the Book of Daniel is authentic?
Daniel is the most authenticated book in the Bible, there is more archaeological and documentary evidence of Daniel than any other book of the Bible. Daniel has been authenticated by none other than Jesus Christ himself.
Daniel 9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. 24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

2) How is the Book of Daniel organized? List the chapters in chronological order. Which chapters are written in Aramaic? Why?

The first six chapters are historical, the last six chapters are appendages of the visions that Daniel saw.
The first six chapters are in chronological order but chapters 7,8,and 9 occur within the other chapters.
• Historical 1 - 6
Chapter 1 The Deportation
Chapter 2 Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
Chapter 3 Bow or Burn The Fiery Furnace
Chapter 4 Nebuchadnezzar’s Testimony Concerning His Ego Trip
Chapter 5 The Fall of Babylon
Chapter 6 The Lion’s Den The Revolt of the Magi 6
• Prophecies 7 - 12
– The Times of Gentiles 2, 7, 8
– The Seventy Weeks 9
– The Dark Side 10
– The Final Consummation 11,12
Which chapters are written in Aramaic? Why?
Daniel 2 through Daniel 7: is written in Aramaic, not Hebrew.
Because the focus of the book is on the Gentile world and the language of the text changes. The book of Daniel is in Hebrew from chapter 1 up to chapter 2, and after chapter 7 it is again written in Hebrew. The “Times of the Gentiles” began with Nebuchadnezzar and will end when the Coming World Leader is displaced by Jesus Christ.
3) What are the prophetic implications suggested by the fiery furnace of Chapter 3?

4) Diagram the dream of Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel’s interpretation. Compare it with the four visions of Chapter 7.

5) Which chapter was written—and published—by a Gentile king? Why?

6) Are there secret messages in the Bible? Explain the “handwriting on the wall” of Daniel 5.

7) Detail the last four verses of Daniel 9:

A. How do we know they involve “weeks” of years?
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
The keys are:
• “from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem”
• “after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off”.
- The restoration of the temple and the building of Jerusalem occurred during the reign of King Cyrus
- The man (Jesus) known as Messiah will be alive more than weeks to begin with, and he shall be cut off indicates that he will be well known as a man who will be killed.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;

B. What is the scope of Gabriel’s prophecy?
• Gabriel predicted 5 centuries earlier to the exact day of Jesus entering Jerusalem riding upon a foal of an ass! Staggering proof of just who Jesus Christ is! He is the Messiah of Israel!
The Triumphal Entry
Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem:
behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Luke 19:35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in
heaven, and glory in the highest.39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
Luke 19:40 And He answered and said unto them, “I tell you that, if these should hold
their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”
Psalm 118:26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
We know that He is the but Israel didn’t know and that caused Jesus to weep over her blindness!
Luke 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
• 38 years later the Romans sacked Jerusalem slaughtered over 1 million men, women, and children another 500,000 died by pestilence that followed in 70 A.D.

C. To whom is the prophecy directed?
Daniel 9: 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
The People of Israel, the Holy City, The Suffering Messiah, Invading Armies, The Anti-Christ and finally the Reigning Messiah
• Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people
• upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression
• and to anoint the most Holy
• the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:
• the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times
• shall Messiah be cut off,
• the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;
• abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
• to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince

D. How did the “69 weeks” get fulfilled?
1. March 14, 445 B.C. — Artaxerxes Longimanus issued a decree to Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah 2:5-8, 17, 18
2. Until The Triumphal Entry April 6, 32 AD
Artaxerxes to the Second Coming
Artaxerxes to the 1st Advent
“The Sixty Nine Weeks”                                                483
[Church interval]                                                               ?
The Seventieth Week”                                                   +7
                                                                                  490 years
The “Church interval” is closely tied to the “Times of the Gentiles” so no one can predict the exact date of Christ’s return!
Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

E. How do we know that there is an interval between the 69th and 70th “week” of years?
The coming of the Messiah would separate the 69th week from the 70th week, thereby translating the assumed meaning of weeks to an interval of years.
Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
This happened after the 69th week, but before the 70th:
In Psalm 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [why art thou so] far from helping me, [and from] the words of my roaring?
The Hebrew thought here is the prophetic “cry of God”.
“why hast thou forsaken” is Hebrew 5800; “azab” (forsake) self...commit self, fail, forsake, fortify, help, leave destitute, off, refuse,...that is Jesus could claim to be God.
“you have forsaken me” 4518: sabachthani “you have forsaken me”
The Greek since is the “in the now” the fulfilled prophecy, “cry of God”.
• The Messiah (Jesus) will be executed for the capital crime of claiming to be God in the flesh; Isaiah 53; Psalms 22; Leviticus 7:20; Ps 37:9; Prov 2:22.
• “Not for Himself”, but for mankind, to pay a penalty for sin that we cannot pay: Yet He will be rejected, He became our substitution and payment in full.
There is an interval, or gap, clearly required by Daniel 9:26 : events described are after the 69th week and prior to the 70th week.
The interval is fulfilled, the Messiah was “cut off”.

F. What is the “Abomination of Desolation”?
• The Prince (anti-Christ) to come will be of the Roman Empire (but NOT necessarily from Europe, and if he did, he could be an Assyrian/Muslim.
It seems to be that he will certainly be in that area of locality!
• The people of “the prince that shall come” is historically, the Romans.
Daniel 9:27 (ASV) And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate.
Daniel 11:31 (ASV) And forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt-offering, and they shall set up the abomination that maketh desolate.
My question is who exactly is they?
Daniel 12:11 (ASV) And from the time that the continual burnt-offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand and two hundred and ninety days.
Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Muslims today are overrunning Europe, they are becoming a dominant force in much of Europe today.
http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/11/29/5-facts-about-the-muslim-population-in-europe/
In recent national elections in France and Germany, for instance, Muslim immigration were top issues. France and Germany have the largest Muslim populations in Europe (defined as the 28 current European Union member countries plus Norway and Switzerland). As of mid-2016, there were 5.7 million Muslims in France (8.8% of the country’s population) and 5 million Muslims in Germany (6.1%). The EU country in which Muslims make up the largest share of the population is Cyprus: The island nation’s 300,000 Muslims make up about one-quarter (25.4%) of its population, and are mostly Turkish Cypriots with deep roots in Cyprus (and not recent migrants). Muslims are much younger and have more children than other Europeans. In 2016, the median age of Muslims throughout Europe was 30.4, 13 years younger than the median for other Europeans (43.8).

G. What event concludes the “70th week”
Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Daniel 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Jesus Christ the “Messiah” shall come to the Earth and put down all other kingdoms and set up His Own.

Blood Moons and Daniel’s 70th Week
Introduction (blood moon history)
A ‘blood moon tetrad’ is a series of four lunar eclipses, separated by 6-months each.  [click for scientific video]  The most recent tetrad occurred in the spring & fall - 2014, and spring & fall - 2015.  (see chart below with dates)    The phenomenon got plenty of publicity in 2014 because there was a book published that connected some past tetrads to significant events in Jewish history.  For example, a tetrad occurred near 1493, when the Jews were expelled in the Spanish Inquisition.  Then, tetrads occurred near 1948, when Israel became a nation, and 1967, when Israel united Jerusalem.  [reference article]  The tetrads were not exact, but close enough to draw a connection.  The author of the book deduced that a significant event must be due for Israel, during the 2014/2015 tetrad, but never said what that might be.  I provide a strong possibility below.

‘Blood Moon’ in the Bible and what happened during the Tetrad
The term ‘blood moon’ comes from the fact that the moon gets a little reddish-orange, during a lunar eclipse, which the author connected to various Bible verses that refer to the moon turning “blood red.”  Personally, I never read the book, but I watched an hour video by the author and I noticed that he only used Old Testament verses, such as Joel (below), perhaps to keep things vague.
Joel 2:31“The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.”    The historical coincidences might be valid, but the “great and dreadful day of the Lord”, which is also known as the rapture, is always accompanied by other astronomical events, some of which cannot be predicted by NASA, such as the “sky receding like a scroll.”  (below) The following are more detailed accounts of the rapture.  As you can tell, the Day of the Lord cannot be predicted with just a lunar eclipse that turns the moon reddish-orange.  I think God will somehow make all the events happen at the same time.  I don’t know how, but God can do all things.
Revelation 6:12-16“I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.  15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!
Matthew 24:29-31
29 “Immediately after the distress of those days 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'   30 At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn.  They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”    As you can see, the rapture (or gathering) is great for Christians who have washed their sins in the blood of the Lamb, but it’s dreadful for those who haven’t.    As for the historical coincidences and Israel, I think the ‘70th Seven’ started during the recent tetrad. (see explanation below chart)  It’s not something that people would have noticed, at the time, because the 70th Seven starts with a ‘confirmation to a covenant’ (Daniel 9:27), not a lunar eclipse or blood moon.  Yet, like I said, the tetrads happen near significant events, not exactly on them.  Plus, the ‘middle’ of the 70th Seven is more vital than the start, because that’s when the abomination is set up and rapture takes place.  (Yet, you can’t have a middle without a start.)  In brief, the ‘start’ of the 70th Seven was a covenant by Iran with other Shiites, to fight ISIS and other Sunni terrorists, after the invasion of Mosul.  The significance to Israel was that the invasion of Mosul gave Iran a legitimate excuse to move militarily into Iraq and Syria, which is Israel’s main concern today (during the ‘middle’ of the 70th Seven).    Of course, the ‘middle of the 70th Seven’ is significant to Israel because that’s when the abomination will be set up and the rapture takes place, which will be a dreadful day for the Jews (but a great day for Christians).  As Joel put it: “the great and dreadful day of the Lord.”      Recently, I discovered a ‘triple confirmation’ for the middle of the 70th Seven, which led back to a common start. (explained more below chart)  Plus, Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, which started riots at the same time, made a ‘quadruple confirmation’.
By coincidence, the first ‘blood moon’ (lunar eclipse), since the tetrad, took place near the middle of the 70th Seven, on January 31, 2018. (as noted on the chart)
